Jatinegara Satpol PP Controls Street Vendors Occupying Public Facilities

The Jatinegara District's Satpol PP, East Jakarta, controlled street vendors who occupied public facilities, including the Stamplas Bogor Pedestrian Bridge on Jalan Jatinegara Timur.

Take firm action

Head of Jatinegara District's Satpol PP, Teguh Nurdin Amali said the activity was carried out because street vendors were still found selling in inappropriate places, such as on sidewalks, roadside, and pedestrian crossing facilities.

"If they continue selling in places that violate the rules, we will certainly take firm action," he said.

Teguh explained that selling activities using public facilities violate Regional Regulation 8 of 2007 about Public Order. As many as 15 personnel were deployed to restore public facilities to their proper functioning.

"We continue to monitor and control so that public facilities can be used according to their intended use," he added.

During the operation, three sacks containing used goods belonging to traders that were placed on the sidewalk, one plastic cupboard, one large bucket, and one sand cart that the owner had left on the side of the road were successfully secured.

"The eight locations targeted for the activity include the Boxing Ring area under the Kampung Melayu Flyover, along Jalan Otista Raya, Jalan Bekasi Barat Raya, Jalan Matraman Raya, Jalan Jatinegara Timur, Jalan Jatinegara Barat, Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rachmat, and Jalan DI Panjaitan," he explained.

He ensured that regular enforcement would continue to be carried out to prevent street vendors from returning to sell in prohibited locations and to take action against various forms of violations of the Regional Regulation on Public Order.

"I ask the public, including traders, to comply with the rules by not occupying public facilities," he emphasized.
